International Law and Human Rights

Intarnational law and human rights

Few ideas have shaped contemporary international law as profoundly as human rights. What began as a distinct branch of the discipline has become one of its organising principles. Today, there is hardly a field of international law – from the protection of the environment to the governance of the oceans, from investment and trade to global health, from the law of immunities to the work of international institutions and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence – that can be understood without reference to human rights.

International Law and Human Rights explores this encounter. The series publishes rigorous scholarly works – monographs, collective volumes and studies – that examine how human rights permeate, transform and at times unsettle the various domains of international law, and how those domains, in turn, test the reach and resilience of human rights themselves.

The series is led by a Scientific Committee and supported by an Editorial Board composed of scholars whose authority in the field is internationally recognised, ensuring that every volume meets the highest standards of scholarship. Its aim is straightforward: to offer the international legal community a forum in which the dialogue between human rights and international law can be pursued with depth, independence and intellectual honesty.
